THE HISTORY OF THE CALDWELL-LAKE GEORGE LIBRARY
One of the pleasures of walking into the Caldwell-Lake George Library is going from 1907 to 1979 without using H.G. Wells' time machine. The front room with its high ceiling, oak fireplace and bookcases was constructed in 1906 and 1907. The window seats were once outside windows. The addition was built in 1979, more than doubling the size of the library.
The early history of the library was recorded by Miss Mary C. Hubbell, librarian from 1908 to 1958:
The library is funded by the Town of Lake George and it receives County and State funds. The library is a member of the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) which encompasses Warren, Washington, Hamilton and Saratoga Counties.
